Department of Statistics conducting 9th Household Expenditure Survey
Singapore: The Department of Statistics is in the midst of conducting the 9th Household Expenditure Survey which will end in September next year.
The survey covers 11,000 households and the aim's to collect the latest information on households' expenditure.
The results are used for updating the weighting pattern and basket of goods and services used in the compilation of the Consumer Price Index.
The survey also provides detailed data for social and economic policy planning and formulation, as well as studies on income and expenditure patterns.
The next areas to be surveyed include Choa Chu Kang, Serangoon North, Tampines and Woodlands.
Field officers from the Department of Stats will visit the selected households personally.
They will carry identification cards and letters of authorisation.
